What do I need to have in order to start using the SonicWeld Rx system?
A drill system that accepts a straight or dental latch twist drill is required to prepare the pilot hole. You will need the SonicWelder Rx complete, which includes the SonicWelder Rx, Handpiece with Cable, Footswitch, Straight Sonotrode, wrench for sonotrode tightening, and carrying case.
Twist Drills, mesh, foil, plates & SonicPins Rx are sold separately based on the preference of the surgeon.
Is SonicWeld Rx safe for the bone?
SonicWeld Rx has been clinically proven to be safe for bone fixation and has been used in thousands of cases since 2005.
Does the treatment cause trauma to the bone or other tissues?
No. With proper technique, clinical experience has shown no bone destruction or degradation as a result of thermal damage. There are intact bone structures at the pin implantation site. There is no difference concerning the dynamics and quality of bone regeneration, compared with traditional screw fixation. Further, there are no signs of inflammation,scars or tissue adhesions
Can I use SonicWeld Rx in areas outside the indications for use?
No. SonicWeld Rx is only indicated for uses approved by your countries’ governing authority. The KLS-Martin SonicWeld Rx™ Solution is based on the BoneWelding™ technology protected by the industrial property rights of WoodWelding AG, Switzerland, and has been licensed by this company.
What suture should be used with the SonicPin Rx Suture Anchor?
We recommend 2.0 Vicryl™© (polyglactin). We do not recommend PDS (polydiaxanone) suture. Dexon™ (polyglycolic), Ethilon™© 3.0, and Ethicon™© silk 3.0 have all been successfully tested
