Conventional resorbable osteosynthesis techniques still represent a compromise, hampered by the inherent limitations of resorbable material. The SonicWeld Rx principle
A completely resorbable SonicPin Rx is inserted into a pre-drilled hole. The user activates the SonicWelder, creating ultrasound vibration while driving the pin into the pilot hole. The SonicPin penetrates into all hone cavities and welds to the resorbable plate. The SonicPin is allowed to return to a solid, then the process is complete. The result is a three dimensionally stable construct. Implant insertion takes only a few seconds and there is minimal possibility of stripping in the hone or shearing of the pin as with screw fixation.
