Preprosthetic Surgery

Bone Augmentation with resorbable fixation systems has been available for preprosthetic surgery for many years, however, it has not been an attractive methodology for all users due to the characteristics of the technology available.

SonicWeld Rx technology offers a completely new solution that makes using resorbable fixation easier and faster. It is changing the procedure options that were available for a variety of case situations.

All of the materials are both rigid and resorbable – characteristics that are not common with most other membranes. No removal is required. The SonicPins Rx, Foils, and Membranes are all comprised of the proven PDLLA polymer material.

Special designs in very thin and semi-flexible shapes have been optimized for the preprosthetic application, and the SonicPins Rx 1.6mm diameter can fit in the tight spaces around defects and between teeth.

Further, and most importantly, the user can weld and smooth the structure to the bone. It does not matter what quality the bone is, the SonicWeld Rx process is effective in the thin maxillary sinus wall, the dense mandibular cortex, or in tight spaces between tooth roots.

The user determines where the pins should be based on the anatomy and places them into the bone using the standard SonicWeld Rx technique.

Next the foil or membrane is cut with scissors or scalpel and placed against the pins.

The SonicWeld Rx process is repeated, creating a connection between pin and ‘wall’. The defect becomes a socket, and the space is now created for the user.

SonicPins Rx come in different lengths as well, longer SonicPins Rx can be used for fixation of bone blocks.
