The system components
SonicWeld Rx pins are fully compatible with KLS-Martin's Resorb-X range of plates, meshes, and foils. The product is sterile packed. SonicPins are loaded on to the handpiece from simple to use cartridges. All implants are easy to track, replace and identify with stickers located inside the packaging.
The Xcelsior water bath is ideal for contouring the thermoplastic meshes, foils and plates, and is very simple to sterilize and use.
The cordless Battery Operated Drill (BOD) is a perfect companion product for drilling pilot holes, and is very convenient for the operating room environment. Twist drills are also available for common contra and straight handpieces
The material
SonicPin Rx is comprised of the same resorbable material as our Resorb-X PDLLA implants. Resorb-X implants are a homogenous blend of D and L isomers of Poly Lactic Acid and is an inherently amorphous, totally non crystalline polymer.
Rx stays strong while the bone heals, then it loses strength and resorbs. First, the plates and fixation pins will weaken after a couple of months because of hydrolysis. Next, the polymer will ‘resorb’ through further hydrolysis (water molecules break down the polymer) and metabolic processes. The final product leaves your body as carbon dioxide and water.
